Before & After Pics Of Tammy Slaton Highlight Her Impressive Weight Loss

TLC star Tammy Slaton has undergone several transformations over the years. Since the first episode of "1000-lb Sisters" aired in 2020, Slaton and her sister, Amy Slaton-Lovvorn, have fought an uphill battle to lose weight and change their lives. Slaton in particular has struggled immensely throughout the show's eight seasons, as her food addiction has prevented her from moving significantly past her starting weight of 608 pounds. In a "1000-lb Sisters" confessional from April 2025, Slaton revealed that at her heaviest, she weighed over 700 pounds. Now? She's down hundreds of pounds.

Slaton's weight-loss journey has been full of ups and downs, as she and the rest of the Slaton family have experienced a breadth of health and personal challenges. For one, Slaton's late husband, Caleb Willingham, whom she met at a rehabilitation center, passed away in July 2023. Then, in a September 2024 Instagram post, Slaton opened up about the impact that her mental health had on her relationship with food. "The mental aspect plays a significant role. Being depressed and having a food addiction, I often ate my feelings, taking out my emotions on food," she wrote. Despite these issues, not to mention being at the center of one of TLC's most popular programs, which can come with its own issues and pressures, Slaton took control of her own journey and lost hundreds of pounds.

How did Tammy Slaton lose hundreds of pounds?

In a December 2023 interview with People, Tammy Slaton explained that she and her siblings have always struggled with their weight. Due to their mother working three jobs at a time, Slaton claimed that quick, carb-heavy meals were the norm in the Slaton household. "The microwave was our best friend. Ramen noodles, bowls of soup, things that were quick and easy — stuff that adds on carbs," she said.

Slaton spent time in an Ohio rehab center in early 2021 while filming "1000-lb Sisters" but gained 15 pounds after checking out of the facility sooner than anticipated. However, after a terrifying experience in early 2022 that led to a ventilator and medically induced coma, Slaton fully committed to her weight loss. Once she recovered, Slaton enrolled in another weight-loss facility. This time, she lost enough weight to qualify for bariatric surgery to reduce her stomach capacity. In July 2022, Slaton underwent the long-awaited weight-loss procedure. Following the surgery, Slaton has lost a lot of weight, and she's been candid about how her quality of life has improved.

Tammy Slaton has spoken candidly about how weight loss completely transformed her life

Tammy Slaton has celebrated her weight loss — and later skin removal surgery — with her fanbase on social media. For example, in July 2025, she posted a slew of selfies and fun outfit pictures to TikTok to show off her new look. Clearly, she doesn't need our tips for adjusting your makeup routine after weight loss or gain, as she looked gorgeous. The comments were overwhelmingly positive, with many complimenting her dedication and encouraging her to skip the skin-smoothing filters in the future so everyone can see her natural beauty.

"Love that you've been so dedicated and successful with your weight loss journey. Tammy, love, you DON'T need the filter. You have NOTHING to hide, and you're NOT a cartoon," one commenter wrote. "Brought a tear to my eye. It's been honestly so inspiring and amazing to watch your journey," another fan gushed.

Slaton revealed that, in addition to feeling more confident, the physical impact of her weight loss has changed her day-to-day life. "Just being able to walk without a walker or be pushed in a wheelchair, and no oxygen. I don't even sleep with it at night anymore," Slaton told People in 2023. "Then it was being able to fit in a regular vehicle, front seat, and then the belt buckle, and not have to use an extender now. So I mean, just what seems minor to some people is giant for me."
