Taylor Frankie Paul Can't Stop Making This 'MAGA Makeup' Mistake

"The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" cast member and #MomTok matriarch Taylor Frankie Paul has been blessed with some gorgeous natural eyebrows. However, her heavy-handed makeup exaggerates them to an uncanny degree all too often. While the controversial Mormon influencer-turned-reality-TV-star's eyebrows are thick and dark without any enhancement needed, she can often be seen rocking patchy, messy, or just plain overfilled brows that are straight out of 2016. Case in point? The 2026 Oscars.

Online sleuths have turned to past social media posts to theorize about Paul's political leanings, but regardless of her actual beliefs, her beauty looks tend to lean to the right. "MAGA makeup," also called "Republican makeup," is characterized by overdrawn eyebrows, thick eyeliner, and heavy bronzer, and prominent Republican political figures like Karoline Leavitt and Marjorie Taylor Greene have fallen victim to these major makeup missteps.

Eyebrows aside, Paul's makeup looks have avoided many of the other "MAGA makeup" pitfalls. She typically opts for a neutral base with minimal blush and no harsh contour lines — unlike the heavy bronzer that characterizes some of the Trump family's biggest makeup mistakes. After joining "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" in 2024, Paul lightened up on the mascara and marginally improved her brows, though they're still a bit too heavy for her face.

Taylor Frankie Paul's eyebrow blindness, which is when someone doesn't realize how bad their eyebrows look because they're used to seeing them a certain way, has gotten slightly better over the years as she stepped into the spotlight, but she still has a long way to go to find an eyebrow look that suits her face. In a TikTok makeup tutorial from 2024, Paul explained that she outlines her brows with an eyebrow pencil and fills them in with a tinted brow gel, adding that eyebrows are a "personal preference." 

Over-lining eyebrows, which typically makes them too dark and overly harsh, is one of the most common mistakes people make when filling in their brows. In Paul's case, her overdrawn eyebrows often overpower her face, which is made worse by her usually opting for a pale lip color and conservatively blushed cheekbones. These make her extra-dark brows stand out even more, especially when compared to her makeup-free face, as seen in a March 2025 Instagram reel.

As evidenced by some of her other Instagram posts, Paul once opted to fill in her brows with an ash brown instead. The lighter, cooler-toned eyebrows allowed her features to shine through (although her penchant for too-pale lipsticks still worked against her). If Paul returns to a lighter eyebrow pencil or chooses to embrace a more natural look by ditching the pencil altogether in favor of a clear brow gel, it will be a marked improvement.
