Kristi Noem's Messy Updo At Daughter Kennedy's Baby Shower Was A Big Beauty Blunder
Kristi Noem may have misunderstood the assignment when she was getting ready for her daughter's baby shower. While awaiting the arrival of her daughter Kennedy Frick's bundle of joy back in December 2024, Noem showed up to the baby shower with a questionable hairstyle that didn't quite match the vibe of the event's cute and charming aesthetic. Veering off from her usual full-glam makeup and the perfectly-waved hair that helped earn her the "ICE Barbie" nickname, Noem instead opted for a tousled-looking updo at the special family occasion — but she didn't quite nail it.
Just like how Kristi Noem's hair extension fails will always haunt her, her choice in hairstyle for her daughter's baby shower likely won't age well. In the Instagram photos from the event, Noem's major beauty blunder is particularly obvious in shots that show her head turned to the side. It's clear from the side angle that Noem's messy bun was much more messy than bun, perhaps giving off too much of a relaxed and disheveled look for such a special event. And it's not the first time she's fumbled a good updo moment, as Kristi Noem keeps making the same hair mistake over and over.
Kristi Noem has a history of ill-suited looks
The former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security not only has some controversial takes when it comes to government policies, but she apparently has some funky ideas on how to properly dress for an occasion. Her hair mishap wasn't the only noticeable indiscretion at her daughter's baby shower, as Noem was probably dressed a bit too casual for the event as well. Her outfit, which was shown in an Instagram post celebrating the event, consisted of light wash jeans paired with a grey undershirt and a simple white cardigan over it. Though she definitely still pulled it off, the laid-back look was giving us flashbacks to when Kristi Noem was embarrassingly out-dressed by Tulsi Gabbard at a 2024 campaign event.

Noem made a similar fashion faux pas with the bizarre outfit she wore to visit Alligator Alcatraz alongside President Trump in July 2025. While the president was dressed in his usual two-piece suit, Noem sported a sleeveless white top and body-hugging navy pants, making her wardrobe much more relaxed than the president's garb. Both of their outfits, however, were equally dressed down with the additions of Trump's slogan baseball caps. Noem sported a white hat with "Make America Great Again" in gold lettering, while Trump's signature red hat read "Gulf of America." Oddly, Noem seemed to have put more effort into her hair that day than she did for her own daughter's baby shower, as her locks looked shiny and carefully coiffed.
