Landman Star Ali Larter's Storybook Marriage Proves That When You Know, You Know
Long before her career resurgence on "Landman," Ali Larter was already a familiar face thanks to her roles as Brooke Windham in "Legally Blonde" and the beloved series "Heroes." As fans watched the complete transformation of Ali Larter on screen, she had a whirlwind romance brewing off screen with fellow actor Hayes MacArthur.
The two first met in 2005 while filming "National Lampoon's Homo Erectus," an unusual movie to kickstart a romance, but a new chapter in the actors' careers. Instead of spending years figuring out their relationship, playing the on-again-off-again game, Larter admitted she knew immediately she wanted to spend her life with MacArthur. "I told [MacArthur] after three weeks that I wanted to marry him and that we could do it tomorrow," she said to Cosmopolitan in 2007 (via Elle). The "Landman" star knew exactly what she wanted, and found it in MacArthur, so she never felt the need to pump the breaks.
The couple got engaged in December 2007 and officially tied the knot in August 2009 at MacArthur's parents' home in Maine. Just over a year later, in December 2010, Larter and MacArthur welcomed a son, Theodore, and a daughter, Vivienne, five years later in January 2015. Though the "Heroes" actor has made some mistakes throughout her career (including some of Ali Larter's most inappropriate outfits), her relationship with MacArthur is one thing she got right from the very beginning.
Ali Larter and Hayes MacArthur's marriage seems picture perfect
The same passion that defined the start of Ali Larter and Hayes MacArthur's relationship is still very apparent in their family dynamic. One of their most impromptu decisions came during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the couple, like the rest of Hollywood, found themselves stuck at home. The "Landman" leading lady and her real-life husband packed up their lives in Los Angeles, California, and moved to Sun Valley, Idaho. "After a year, we just packed up the car and bounced. We figured it was an opportunity to go on an adventure as a family. And we just started driving north," she said in her Rue cover story in 2024.
They tried moving back to Los Angeles but quickly realized the city no longer suited them. "Our life is so different [in Sun Valley]," Larter said on "Live With Kelly and Mark." "It's a small town, and it kind of holds you to a different type of accountability. It's something that me and Hayes really wanted to do for our children, so we did," she added. Larter and MacArthur appear to be just as decisive about their relationship as they are in all aspects of their lives. While fans may continue to focus on everything from Larter's style to her Hollywood comeback, it seems that the longevity of her marriage may be one of her greatest successes.
