What Iconic '80s Actor Debra Winger Looks Like These Days

In the early '80s, one actor who constantly made headlines, for both her acting abilities and her fiery off-screen antics, was Debra Winger. Known for her roles in "Urban Cowboy," "An Officer and a Gentleman," and "Terms of Endearment," Winger was equally recognized for her throaty voice and her classic and unfussy looks. Fast-forward to today and she's one of the famous '80s actors who are practically unrecognizable now.

The Oscar nominee, who turned 71 in May 2026, attended a premiere in New York City in early 2024, showing off gray hair and subtle wrinkles. The following February, she was spotted at an event at the city's Pershing Square Signature Center, looking equally beautiful and confident. "You look like you're aging with grace," wrote one of her followers on Instagram in 2023, under a photo of the actor showing off her more mature look.

We'd expect nothing less, as Winger has been outspoken on ageism in Hollywood, including inspiring the 2002 documentary "Searching for Debra Winger," where she and other prominent actors discuss the pressures of sexism and ageism in show business. In 2017, she told People, "Because I've traveled a lot, I have such a different sense of beauty that I feel sometimes like a fish out of water here. I can get [dressed up], but I'm not very enthusiastic about it."

Debra Winger has embraced her natural hair in the 2020s

In the '80s, big hair was in, and Debra Winger was one of the era's poster children for naturally full curls. She also had an unruly fringe to match, which gave off a devil-may-care attitude. Jumping forward to the 2020s, the actor morphed from brunette wild child into elegant septuagenarian. In early 2020, pre-Covid, Winger was still rocking brown locks. During her next public appearance, in June 2022 at a Tribeca Film Festival luncheon, she was one of the celebrities proudly showing off their gray hair, suggesting that she let her mane go its natural hue during the pandemic.

In March 2023, Winger posted a photo of herself to Instagram, showing gorgeous full gray curls. She's definitely followed the rules on how to combat hair loss in your 50s and beyond, or is naturally blessed with thick curls that sit beautifully. Judging by the amount of positive feedback in the comments, the post inspired a number of her followers. "Beautiful as always," wrote one fan. "I think I may let my hair go gray! I too have curly hair." Another added, "You look great, love your hair!!"
